However, on the advice of the Planning Commission, the works of dam and spillway were deferred and the barrage along with a part of canal system was completed in 1991. An irrigation potential of 14,861 ha has been created up to March 2011 with the completion of barrage and part of Canal System for a length of i) RMC – 7.50 km and ii) LMC – 25.278 km.
The work on dam and spillway were resumed from February 1990.The project was included for Central Loan Assistance (CLA) under Accelerated Irrigation Benefit Program (AIBP) since 1997-98 for completion of the balance works. Now, the project has been included in the Prime Minister’s Special Economic Package since 2005.
