Sita

The River Sita rises in the Western Ghats beyond Someswar to the North- East of the Udupi Taluk, while the River Swarna flows from the hills situated at the South- Eastern boundary of the same Taluk. Both these Rivers are perennial and join the Sea at Barakur, about 13 km to the North of Udupi Town. The junction of these two rivers is forming a large backwater. The River Sita is navigable for about 18 km only. There is one CWC Hydrological Observation Station at Avershe on this river, which is located at 9.2 km of its outfall into Sea.
