Project in Brief
Ret irrigation project is located across river Ret, a tributary of the river Tel in Mahanadi basin, near village Kutingpadar of Narla Block in Kalahandi district of Odisha. The components of the project are:
- 1054 m long and 36.40 m high homogenous earth fill dam
- 87 m long ogee crested central spillway with 6 nos. radial gates.
- 17.51 km long Left Main Canal (LMC) with ayacut of 4890 ha.
- 12.30 km long Right Main Canal (RMC) with ayacut of 3610 ha.
- 268 km long distribution system
The project on completion will provide annual irrigation to 9,775 ha with 115% irrigation intensity (85% Kharif and 30% Rabi). The CCA of the project is 8500 hectare. The project was approved by the Planning Commission in the year 2003-04 for Rs. 86.14 crore (1999 price level). The latest approved cost of the project (2007 price level) is Rs. 273.81 crore. The entire project is being funded under AIBP assistance, with 90% grant since it is in KBK region of Orissa. Upto March 2011 no irrigation potential is created.
