The Prakasha Barrage Medium Irrigation Project is constructed in the Tapi basin in Nandurbar district of Maharashtra. The project comprises of 503 m long barrage with weir of the maximum height of 19.10 m having 27 vertical lift gates each of size 15 m x 9 m across river Tapi near village Prakasha, Taluka Shahada in district Nandurbar. The clear waterway provided in the barrage is 405 m to pass design flood of 50517 m3/s at u/s HFL of 120.50 m. No canal system has been proposed for this project. The storage created by the construction of this barrage will provide water to irrigate the culturable command area (CCA) of 9840 ha in 24 villages of Nandurbar Taluka of Nandurbar district, 7 villages of Shahada Taluka of Nandurbar district and 2 villages of Shindkheda Taluka in Dhule district. The lifting of water and its distribution will be done by the farmers through the co-operative and private lift irrigation schemes. 66.906% command area of this project lies in DPAP area. The ultimate irrigation potential of the project is 10307 ha. The project will also provide 1.063 Mm3 water for domestic use for Khondamali and 12 nearby villages in Khaparkheda Taluka of Nandurbar district; 0.133 Mm3 water for Koparli water supply scheme in Nandurbar Taluka and 3.04 Mm3 of water for industrial use by MIDC, Nandurbar and 0.133 Mm3 water for Pushpadanteshwar Sahakari Sakhar Karkhana,in Samsherpur Taluka of Nandurbar district.
