The Lower Panzara Medium Irrigation Project is being constructed in the Khandesh region of Maharashtra. The project envisages following components.

a. A 3266 m long earth dam with the maximum height of 31.18 m with central 259 m long gated ogee type spillway across river Panzara a Tributary of river Tapi, near village Akkalpada in Sakritaluka of district Dhule.

b. Ogee-shaped spillway having 17 radial gates each of size 12m x 8m to pass design flood of 11550 m3/s.

c. 32.85 km long Left Bank Canal (LBC) with head discharge of 3.41 m3/s benefiting16 villages in Sakri&Dhuletaluka of Dhule district along with DISNET; 14.13 km long Right Bank Canal (RBC) with head discharge of 5.58 m3/s benefiting 6 villages in Dhuletaluka of Dhule district along with DISNET.

The ultimate irrigation potential of the project is 7585 ha and CCA of the project is 9980 hectare. The project`s entire command area falls under drought prone (DP) area of Dhule district of Maharashtra.

The Lower Panzara Medium Irrigation Project has been approved by the Planning Commission, Govt. of India in April 2009 for an estimated cost of Rs 347.3107 crore at 2005-06 price level.The Lower Panzara Medium Irrigation Project has been included in AIBP during 2009-10. At the time of submission of the proposal i.e. up to March 2009, 85% works of earth dam, 50% Spillway, 90% Right Bank Canal, 30% Left Bank Canal and 5% Distributaries were complete. The balance works of the earth dam, spillway, canal system with DISNET have been included in AIBP to create the ultimate irrigation potential of 7585 ha.
