Kuttyadi

The river Kuttiyadi also known by the name Murat River in the lower reaches is one of the important rivers in the Southern part of India, which has great water potential. The river Kuttiyadi originates from South Wayanad, flows towards North-West and joins the Arabian Sea near Badayana town. The Kuttiyadi river basin is bounded by the Chaliyar basin on the South, Kabini basin in the East and Mahe basin in the North. The basin lies approximately between latitudes 110 30’ to 110 40’ North and longitudes 750 40’ to 760 00’ East. The catchment area of the river is 583 Sq.Km. The total length of the river is 90 Km. There is one CWC Hydrological Observation Station at Kuttiyadi on this river.
