Project Description
Kasarsai irrigation project consists of an earthen dam across Kasarsai nall 35 km away from Pune city. The dam is 1170 meter long having height of 29.36 meter. the spillway of the dam is ogee type with 3 gates of size 12×5 meter size. designed flood capacity of 932.57 cumec. length of the spillway is 41 meter.
The left bank canal is 7 km long. The 041 cumec capacity canal will irrigate 512 hectare (ICA). The Right banl canal is 19.5 km long. The 2.203 cumec capacity canal will irrigate 2524 (ICA) hectare of land. In the revised proposal lift irrigation is included and irrigates 1083 hectare land.The CCA of the project is 5149 hectare annd ultimate irrigation potential is 6590 hectare.
The project was approved by Planning Commission in the year 1981 for an estimated cost of Rs 2.77 crore. The CCA of the project was 3795 hectare and potential was 3643 hectare. Subsequently the CCA and the potentail of the project is increased to 5149 hectare and 6590 hecatre respectively. The project was started in the year 1980 and is completed during X plan Cost of the project is Rs 28.58 crore.
