Brief Description
The Kanchi irrigation project was formulated during second five year plan (1956-61). It was takenup during 1958 and completed in 1966 for a modest cost of Rs 1.52 crore. The project comprises of a diversion weir across river Kanchi, in Subernarekha basin. The weir has automatic falling crest shutters and is located near village Churki Aradih, district Ranchi, Jharkhand. The weir intercepts a catchment area of 484 sq km and a canal system on the right bank of the river. It has gross command area (CGA) of 34196 ha and CCA of 17800 ha. The annual irrigation of the project is 18088 ha.
