Indira Gandhi Nahar Board
The Rajasthan Canal Board, later renamed as Indira Gandhi Nahar Board was constituted in 19th December 1958, by the Ministry of irrigation and Power, Government of India, to ensure efficient, economical and speedy execution of the project. The Board was reconstituted under resolution No. 19/4/8 1 /IT dated 7th Jan. 1985, No. 19/4/81/IT dated 26th Feb. 1990 and again under resolutions dated 6th Jan. 1992, 21st April 1992 and 4th March 1993. The Headquarters of IGN Board is at Jaipur. The Board is headed by a Chairman who is also the Administrator of the Project and is ex-officio Commissioner and Secretary to the Government of Rajasthan in the Indira Gandhi Nahar Department.
IGN Board includes representatives of all departments concerned with the project such as Secretary CAD, Secretary Finance, Secretary PHED, Area Development Commissioner, Colonization Commissioner and representative of Ministry of Water Resources and Central Water Commission. The Board has executive powers in respect of canal construction and is engaged in planning, coordination and evaluation of all the activities of the project.

Organizational Set up of the IGN Board
The Board Office at Jaipur has a Secretary in charge of administrative work, a Financial Advisor, responsible to the Board for the financial matters. He is also responsible for all other matters having financial repercussions.
Committee of Direction
When the Board was first constituted, along with it, High Level Committee of Direction was also set up to lay down the policies and give direction to the Board from time to time. The committee of Direction was headed by the Union Minister of irrigation and Power and had Chief Ministers of Rajasthan and Punjab, Ministers of Irrigation of the two States as members and Chairman Rajasthan Canal Board as Member Secretary.
Constitution was framed separately for both the Committee of Direction and the Canal Board and their functions were laid down. Originally it was visualized that RCB will perform major role in both construction, and development of the project and project area. After completion of Feeder portion in Punjab, role of that Board reduced significantly except for running and maintenance of the feeder and it just remained as executing agency of a State level major project.
Consequent to above developments the high level Committee of under the Chairmanship - of Union Minister of Water Resources became defunct.
Committee Of Direction (State Level Committee)
As the work on canal project progressed and more and more areas were opened for irrigation and more and more people came for settling in new colonies, planned development of irrigation, setting up of new Abadis and providing infrastructure for general development of the area needed close monitoring and coordinating of different programs. To ensure closer co-ordination among different departments of the State Government, a committee of Direction headed by Chief Secretary was constituted under Government order No. P(5)(3) AR-3/87 dated 20.1.1987 at State level. It was reconstituted in 1989. This committee formulates and reviews the policy matters pertaing to IGN project including CAD and Colonization and makes necessary recommendations to the State Government for their approval. The committee consists of:-
