Project Description

Ichambadi Anicut System is a diversion Anicut built across the Pennaiyar River in the downstream of Krishnagirir Reservoir Dam situated in Harur and Uthangarai Taluks in Dharmapuri and Krishnagiri Districts of Tamilnadu. Pennaiyar River flows from Karnataka and enters Tamilnadu at about 50 km north west of Bagalur village of Hosur Taluk in Krishnagirir District. There is no storage structure at the Anicut, the river water is diverted into the two main canals namely Right Main Canal (RMC) and Left Main Canal (LMC) having command area of 1214.57 ha. and 1315.80 ha. respectively. The Length of RMC is 30.39 Km and LMC is 26.15 Km. The total Cultural Command Area is 2530.37 ha. The catchment Area of Ichambadi Anicut is 144.17 sq.km.
