However, owing to rescission of the original contract and fixation of new contract, financial constraints under successive State Plan coupled with the prevailing law and order situation in the State of Manipur, the work could not make progress.
The first revised estimated cost of the project is Rs 98.37 crore (Sept. 2005 price level) was approved by the Planning Commission in May 2007.
The second revised project estimated cost of Rs 215.52 crore at November 2008 price level was approved in the 100th meeting of TAC of MoWR held on 09.10.2009. Planning Commission accorded investment clearance in January 2010.
Present Status
The project was started in the year 1992 and there was delay in work due to several reasons. The project was brought under AIBP in the year 2002-03 and so far no irrigation potential is created. The barrage and canal system is under progress.
